Want to be a Travel Umpire?

The BNGSA sponsors multiple USA Softball qualifier tournaments annually at Champion Fields/Maxwell Park in Normal. Over 350 games are played from April to the weekend prior to Independence Day. Umpires are supervised by a trained UIC. The Bob Daniels umpire shelter is the umpire's home base.  Changing rooms, bathroom, shower, food and drink provided.

The BNGSA travel program also plays weekday/weekend doubleheaders against opponents from Central Illinois. Over 50 doubleheaders are traditionally on the schedule. April through October.

To be considered for assignment to these games you must:

  • Register annually with USA Softball of Illinois, pass a mandatory background check and complete SafeSport training annually
  • Be in good standing with USA Softball of Illinois and the BNGSA
  • Attend a Local Points Tournament Clinic held at various locations in the state (March - May)

The assignor for weekday doubleheaders and tournament games is Jeff Keller.
